Default The 2010 FEH Even Better?

Presently my '09 FEHL has a lifetime MPG of 44.379 with over 3,200 miles and I expect to break 45MPG with my 6th tank I'm working on now. This was with three tropical storms effecting the winds here in Jupiter FL. and the heat of the summer. The mileage was started from the assembly line and the dealer fill was low and caused me to only average ~38.4mpg for my first tank.

My average is moving up fast but the 2010 FEH/MMH looks like Ford has added the Variable Voltage Converter which I don't think the '09 FEH/MMH has now. The new 2010 Ford Fusion and Mercury Milan Hybrids have all the improvements and can run 47mph in EV. One article I read claimed it could go 8 miles in EV, but I really don't think that's possible. This article does say the range has been increased:

"The overall system upgrade allows the Ford Fusion and Mercury Milan hybrids to operate longer at higher speeds in electric mode. The hybrid vehicles can operate up to 47 mph in pure electric mode, about twice as fast as some competitors. Plus, the city driving range on a single tank of gas is expected to be more than 700 miles."

Since the 2010 Fusion Hybrid will have an electric compressor for A/C in EV, I've choosen to drop the 2010 Prius and go for the 2010 Fusion Hybrid for my Wife. I think we can expect the 2010 FEH/MMH to have an electric A/C also.

The new FFH sould be at the LA Auto Show in November where we'll hear more.

sounds interesting, but 8 miles?!?!? I'd have to see that to believe, just reg driving and no hypermile tricks!
All of the improvements sound great, but I'm still waiting on Li batt...that'll be the single most effective improvement/upgrade hybrids can get now. That'll increase capacity, max amp draw, and weight. All three would greatly improve even existing systems.

Reading all the good thing about the 09, I was almost ready to make the leap from 08. But few things stand in way. I am much too upside down in my vehicle. The truck wll be a year old come November 26th. However, we are currently at 43K miles. I know I know.... But the 106 mile commute at 17MPG had to be fixed. But then as I thought about the 2010, I noted that PEHV are still coming. So owing to the fact that I will probably run this one into the ground, maybe it is better to stay put.

I got lazy since I purchased my '09 FEHL getting trips in excess of 50mpg driving much faster than I do in my '05 FEH. As I learned my SGII MPG was reading way to high and my Nav Sys was also reading to high, I had to start testing other techniques. My SGII Tank fill percentage is now adjusted up 10.4% at the beginning of my 6th tank and I'm reading the SGII tank average at 47.9mpg and the Nav Sys at 48.6mpg average. My last tank average was 46.04mpg from pumped gas and the Nav System read 47.8mpg. You can see I've got a lower SGII reading with the adjusted 10.4%, but it's still not low enough if you compare it with the Nav Sys MPG average.

Yesterday I started playing with "L" for complete fuel-cut while recharging the battery. At one point I had my Nav Sys tank average up to 49.0mpg, but I had to many stops at Costco and Walmart which dropped me down to the present 48.6 reading at 154.5 on the Trip OD.

The bottomline is "L" does work to improve my mileage when I need to brake or build my SoC. The higher RPM just took me a little getting use too. I'll complete this tank before adjusting the SGII to a higher percentage.
