600 mile tank club...almost

Seven or so years ago, several owners reported on exceeding the 600 mile to empty tank club. I believe GaryG post something like 743 miles. In July 2014 I took a shot at this and ended at 597 miles to empty.

Almost of my driving was on the interstate highway and it sure helped to have a tailwind for 200 miles.

Just to clarify, you did the high mileage drive, filled up, and then took the shots of the mileage readout?

Excellent of course. Besides the tailwind, was the route a net downhill? What was the average speed? Tire pressure?

On one leg of a long summer trip this August, we got 36.6 US MPG. Average speeds were low and there was a tailwind for some of the drive. But we were loaded with 3 people plus baggage and camping gear, plus we drove over a 7000' pass twice.

These mileages are even better given that we both have AWD Escapes.

The 699 miles reflects the total miles driven from my location in Southwestern Pa. into Green Bay Wisconsin where the photo was taken at the Kwiw Trip fuel station in the shadows of Lambeau Field. The drive was on Interstate 80 via Ohio/Indiana, thru Chicago and Milwaukee and up (north) to Green Bay via Interstate 43. I had a couple of stops adding fuel without resetting the MPG counter. I drove with my dog and triathlon equipment as I was headed for a race.

For comparison, I drove to Wilmington, NC this October via I-95 and had a 38.8 mpg figure when I arrived there.
