Default Fuel Cut Mode

That's how my 2005 works.
Coasting in L gear never gets me to fuel cut mode in my '08. L will increase my SoC until about 68% and then it will spin the engine way up and my mpg goes down into the 60s. In D, it will eventually go to fuel cut, but only in the last couple miles of I-70 before C-470 (which is a SERIOUS hill if you haven't driven it). This was in the winter starting out at the Eisenhower tunnel so temperature could have played a factor, but I was running in the 170+ temps and had the ability to autostop.

I've tried fuel cut on several other hills, but it only seems to happen for me between Genesee and Golden on I-70. Has anyone else been successful in an '08 at Fuel Cut Mode?
