Help Picking Kit for Radio Install 2008 FEH
Hello!
I found a good deal on a Pioneer Double DIN CarPlay receiver and ordered it. http://www.ebay.com/itm/322246173467
But now I see that there are several different (or at least a few options) for mounting hardware.
I found a kit on Amazon for $40 that seems to include everything I need - the dash kit, antenna adapter and wiring harness.
However, there are two options for whether it's amplified or non-amplified. What can I do to figure out exactly what I have?
I can take pictures and post, but if anyone can tell me what I need to be looking for to tell the differences, that would be great.
EDIT: Updated with photo of dash as attachment.
Here's a link to the kit: https://www.amazon.com/MERCURY-2008-...rd+escape+dash
And here's a link to the non-amplified one: https://www.amazon.com/2008-2012-NON...rd+escape+dash
They seem to be (nearly?) identical.
Any recommendations on where I can get this cheaper would also be very much appreciated.
Cheers!
PS: First post and enjoying my FEH that's new to me but just hit 210k miles and going strong. Just wish the stupid overly-cautious design let me use more than 1/8th of the battery because I'm used to more amazing feats in my old Honda Insight, where I was able to get 1203 miles on a 10 gallon tank without running out of gas.

In case anyone was interested in my claims about my MPG on my old Insight.

I think all you need to know is if your Escape's stock radio came with a subwoofer in the back. Some people want to wire their aftermarket headunit to work with the stock subwoofer.
I don't think any Escape hybrids could have subwoofers until 2009, because the subwoofer's enclosure/amp would get in the way of the side air intake for the traction battery.
