Service Manuals
After a cursory search I've seen many references to Factory Service Manuals but have not seen where these are available to non-service people? Does anyone have a reliable source for these? I was told by two local dealerships that they are not sold "over-the-counter" (though I have Factory Service Manuals for all of my older Ford & Mercs). I need to service my brakes (2007 MMH AWD 150k) and need to diagnose why I'm regularly getting a "Service Soon" light when the PCM is not storing codes that can be read. I apologize in advance if I've missed something that's been thoroughly discussed. Thanks!

You can also get them online at Mitchells and AllData. Those are the two that most independent tech's use.

Re: Service Manuals
I found my Ford factory service manuals (3 vols) on eBay, about $20. They were sold as "used" but appear new.
Here's an example: http://www.ebay.com/itm/2007-Ford-Escape-Mariner-Hybrid-Factory-Shop-Service-Repair-Manual-4-Volume-SET-/151214548273?pt=Motors_Manuals_Literature&hash=item233516e531&vxp=mtr Just keep looking for a good deal. |
Re: Service Manuals
One thing to remember about the online manuals, they also contain and are updated with the latest TSB's, recalls and manual revisions.

Re: Service Manuals
I bought the same one as Econoline off eBay, though I paid more. They are useful, but often recommend specialized tools, so it pays to check a forum to see work-arounds.

Re: Service Manuals
There always seem to be hard-copy manuals on eBay. I bought a version that installed on my computer with some sort of vm software.
