Default Using an unchipped key to unlock wheel

I have an 09 Escape Hybrid that I tow behind my motor home 4 wheels down. In order to tow the car, I have to unlock the steering wheel. I would like to have an unchipped (plain metal type key) key made just to unlock the wheel. This key will only be used to unlock the wheel when towing. Is there any problems in doing this? Will it effect any of the electronics? I have called 2 different Ford dealers and they say no problem, but I don't think either was that familiar with what I want to do. Thanks
Brian

I do that on my '07, just a plain metal key.
