12-volt outlets dead

12-volt outlets dead
I have been using the 12-volt power outlet in the center console to charge my wireless phone and discovered today that there is no longer any power there. Same for the outlet in the dash below the radio. Dead. Tried the same phone charger in another car and it works fine. Sounds like it might be a blown fuse so I guess I will check out the fuse box tomorrow. Anyone else encounter this problem and if so, what was the fix? Any idea why this may have happened and how to prevent it from happening again?

Re: 12-volt outlets previously dead-now alive again
Yep, blown fuse confirmed. 20A fuse #9 in the interior panel was fried. Used a spare 20A found in the under hood fuse box and I'm now back in business. I guess from now on I will make sure the charger is in place before turning the key, rather than making the acc outlet "hot swap". BTW, nice little fuse puller tool in the under hood box even though I had to look at the printed fuse list on the lid to locate where it is neatly tucked away (slides out of a vertical slot among the fuses)...a nice design touch...very Japanese.
