What is Your Best Mileage From One Tank??
Just recently drove to California from Arizona. I got into Los Angeles and then drove down to San Diego the next day. I really tried and tried to maximize the mileage that I would get from one tank. I was able to squeeze out 656.5 miles in the 17 gallon tank (I still had a little bit of fuel left, but decided not to push it any farther). Has anyone ever gotten 700 miles from one tank??
What IS your best tank and can you prove it?? :-) It would be great to remind ourselves just how great the HAH can be.

And here's the receipt for the first FCD picture I posted above:
As you can see, I had plenty of fuel left to exceed 700 miles on that tank. However, I wasn't about to try my luck out there in the open desert. Gas stations can be spread out over 50+ miles apart out there. I recall one signpost when I was driving out in CA... "Next Service Over 100 Miles." Holy crap!
I have some photos I took with my camera phone this past Friday. If I can figure out how to get them off my phone I'll upload them and post them here. On one stretch of road, I had high 50s MPG over about a 100 mile stretch!

I use my Verizon phone for taking pics all the time. All you have to do is (Send) the pics to your (Computer) and then you can do as you wish with them. It is kinda time consuming as you have to do one at a time but it works.
Later,
Terry
BTW, The pic of the trip computer above was a Verizon Cell Pic.

Terry,
When I was running XP, it was easy to transfer from my phone to PC. But now with Vista, I can't get it to do that anymore. I can't seem to figure it out, but I'm still trying.

Holy crap! 26.5 is okay, not great, for city mileage. I get around 27-29 in the city. Browse through these forums on ways others are getting better mileage. For me, I just try to drive the car as smoothly as possible. Take off nice and easy and slow down smoothly. Nothing extravagant.
For the calculations in the database, I use the hand calculation method. It seems to be more accurate. However, the FCD isn't too far off from hand calcs. I've seen variations from +/- 0.2 to 2 mpg. Probably around 95% of the time, the FCD shows a higher MPG than hand calcs.
Above, my FCD shows 610 miles at 42.1 MPG. By hand, I got 604 miles at 42.4 MPG. The MPG is pretty close at about 0.2%, even though my mileage is off by about 1%.
