Default 458 visitors past 24 hrs???

I hadn't been paying close attention but this seems like a lot. Are there historical records of visitors/24 hr. over time?

I haven't bothered to keep track of such things here, but some of those visitors could be "bots" -- search bots like GoogleBot, AltaVista's crawler, etc. -- these aren't malicious, btw, they're just automated programs that index the web nibbling up new content.

The most visitors (including bots) my primary website's forums (http://WildTexas.com/talk) have ever hit was 572 in early 2005, and my site's far less trafficked/far less popular than GreenHybrid.com.

There *are* some bad bots, but that discussion would be outside the realm of this discussion unless the site owner's wanted to delve into that. My guess is a site like GreenHybrid has more live human visitors than bots, but that may vary throughout a day -- all that new content (every single message thread, for example) needs to get indexed, and bots are how it gets up there in lights on Google, etc.

At the bottom of the Discuss main page you can see that there were 458 registered members who visited within the past 24 hours, not including all the unregistered guests and bots.

I think Bob was referring to actual registered visitors that had visited in the past 24 hours. This information is available towards the bottom of the discuss page.

It also mentions "Most users ever online was 647, 05-04-2006 at 11:38 AM." I think this would include bots and nonregistered users at a given time.

Understood. I run the same forum software (time for an upgrade, Jason!) so I am aware of the terminology.

Shannon,
An upgrade works for me but I have to wait for CarsDirect to assist for something like that. The system has been modified to integrate with the site and a major upgrade will pretty much destroy GreenHybrid

I know exactly what you mean, Jason. BTW, I think GreenHybrid is absolutely, bar-none, the cleanest designed and laid out vBulletin forum, integrated photo gallery, etc. website. I'm eternally jealous and really need to stop posting here and redesign my own sites.

Yeah, like that's gonna happen anytime soon...

I've noticed that when I edit a posting that has a list of elements, extra "<" are added at the end of each element. I just go back and take them out but was wondering if that would be fixed with the next upgrade?
