ZEND and the website for the last day?

What was the deal with this website for the last couple of days where it would come up saying that ZEND must be installed. I went to install it but decided that this was for the administrator of the website..

I just went back to PriusChat to update the thread on GreenHybrid and PriusChat is down, "testing a database." Just a wild guess but this is the signature of a latent defect in a product and/or a critical software update. I think both GreenHybrid and PriusChat use the same software base. . . . Just a wild guess.

This release is a patch to the 3.6.8 to fix a security issue reported to us this morning. Only 3.6.8 is affected by this issue. The only changes in this release are for this security issue.
. . .
Yesterday morning (October 17th 2007) a security issue was reported to the vBulletin team. After investigating the report's claims, it was discovered that the 3.6.8 code does indeed include a flaw that could lead to a cross-site-scripting (XSS) exploit.

Subsequently, a new vBulletin version was prepared and released yesterday afternoon. This version is vBulletin 3.6.8 Patch Level 1 and includes only the fix for the security flaw.

Pure speculation but an interesting coincidence.

Re: ZEND and the website for the last day?

We had some trouble with the machine that serves GreenHybrid. The "You need Zend" page was showing up because Apache wasn't loading that extension, which is required by some of the software that runs the forums. We've got that fixed.

There was also an issue with the MySQL database - some of the system tables, as well as the vBulletin user table, got fritzed. We have repaired these tables, and it looks like we're good to go. We'll be keeping an eye on things for the next few days, and we do have backups we can revert to if anything else goes wrong.

The vBulletin 3.6.8pl1 patch was installed last week & is not related to the trouble we had over the weekend.

We apologize for the downtime, and thank you for your continued patronage.

It happens.
