Default 2007/2009 cluster

Does anyone know if the 2009 speedometer cluster is the same as the 2007? I have a 2007 hybrid but want to put a Canadian 2009 cluster in it.

Your dealer(s) would be the best place to start. Call and see if the part #s are the same for the different clusters.

Also, salvage yards use a database called Hollander's. They have their own part numbers for virtually all cars. If a Hollander number for the cluster is listed to fit the 2007-09 models, it is the same cluster.

Keep in mind that some cars have the VIN coded into the odometer; don't know about the Camry. If you put a cluster in from another vehicle and the VIN hasn't been updated or changed, many cars will show the wrong VIN when hooked to the dealers' diagnostic tool.

The part numbers will be different as the writing on the cluster cover changes for the metric cars. I am assuming you will change the cover? The dealer or someone with a factory scan tool will need to re-set the output from the ECU to display correctly.

The VIN is stored in the ECU (as is the odometer). The cluster just displays the information sent to it by the computer.

Thanks for the replies. It would be easier if I could just find somewhere some direction for my dealer to reset the MFD. I have the service manual but it is not listed. It is in the Highlander hybrid manual.

What do you mean 'reset'? Is yours stuck, blank, malfunctioning, not giving correct readings?

No, It's an American Camry but I want the display to read in Metric. It is possible to reprogram the MFD and climate control but Toyota dealers in Canada won't touch it as punishment to me for not buying from them.

I would imagine procedure listed in Highlander manual doesn't work for TCH?

In the customize section of the camry service manual there is no mention like the highlander manual. The option might be there when they hook up their laptop but hard to prove.

I hooked my TCH up to my Modis last night and I can read and set some items in the body control module but the metric/SAE switch was not one of them. The cluster from a 2009 should fit in the 2007 or 2008 car but I don't know if it will solve your problem. I believe the ECU will need to have the metric option set and that will take a factory scan tool to do.

Try going to toyotanation.com and ask some of the techs over there what you would need to do. There are a lot of good techs on that site but be aware that you have a lot of wanna be kids that don't even know how to drive giving out advise on there also.
