2012 Toyota Camry Photo Gallery

Lots of great pictures here of the new Camry Hybrid, including the regular Camry. This includes some nice shots of the interior, speedometer and etc.

Once the sites opens, page down twice to > Recent Comments > Camry Photo Gallery. Open the link, then look down the many pictures. The speedometer pix is listed near the bottom of the list along with the hybrid and regular Camry engines.

Dbl click on any picture for a large view.

Here is another site with good closeups including inside the car. His review mentions the new Camry Hybrid comes with Michelin Energy Saver tires.

Sad to read in the second link that the new TCH can only go 1/2 mile on battery.

I think Toyota is going the wrong way on this. I want a long EV capacity. They did up the max speed which is nice, but that EV range just might be a deal breaker for me.

What is the speed up to?

I am going Lexus next...unless it is REALLY small compared to the Camry.

This can only do EV up to 20 mph... wth.

One of the sites listed mentioned the 2012 TCH can go up to 45 mph in the EV mode. I also noticed a close up picture of a panel with a ECO button and a new EV button. Says it helps hold the car in the EV mode till you need any acceleration then the engine kicks right in.

I read somewhere that the Ford Fusion can go up to 47 or 48 mph, but some mentioned it pulled the battery down rather fast.

I've gotten used to the ~42 mph of the Camry. It works well on 35 mph streets :) heh.

The reason for the Lexus upgrade would be things like cooled seats (which I believe the Kia has and possible lincoln) but I really like how Toyota has put things together.

My '08 will easily do 1-1.5 miles with the ICE off as long as the A/C is off. Flat road, 35 MPH speed limit, cruise control set at the speed limit per GPS. Any significant grade, or other acceleration demand, and the ICE lights up...

BTW, any more details on the changes responsible for the notable jump in FE. 7 MPG hop on the combined EPA test is HUGE - I'm wondering if the changes could be cost-effectively retrofitted to the 'old' generation.

The alleged 250# weight loss would be darn hard, but...

Also, some of the interior styling changes leave me with a 'so what' impression - in some ways seem to be a step backwards. I'm likely on the MMC refresh schedule, with the current car likely going to my daughter as her car.

Until people start driving them and we know for sure...

I fear that with the 1/2 mile EV, 45 mph max speed, Toyota may have engineered the new drivetrain to do well on the EPA cycle while not really doing or have the potential of doing better than EPA.

The new TCH will get 30% improved mpg as toyota and the EPA test shows. Here is a site comparing test, price, mpg vs the competition, including talk about toytoa's new mpg.

I also see the new TCH is belt-less. The coolant water pump is now electric driven. No doubt the saves some power from the engine as the electric steering has done in the past.

The only thing I really wish I had in my 07 is the little extra trunk space! Other than that I am completely happy with my 07.
