I just returned from the Atlanta car show. I was impressed to see the 08 Highlander Hybrid there and you can see my post and pictures here: https://www.greenhybrid.com/discuss/...ad.php?t=12738

I was a little disappointed in their Hybrid display. I was hoping to see some cool techno stuff showing off the technoligy, but none. I was also shocked that the showed the base model Camry Hybrid and not a loaded out one. They also had one prius there.

I like the color of the new Hybrid Highlander. How did Toyota's hybrid display stack up against the other manufacturers?

 

It was better that the others.

GM had a Hydro SUV on display also the Greenline and a new Saturn Aura Hybrid, with not many details including no price or EPA estimates. I was upset that Nissan did not have the new Altima Hybrid there. I did not see the new Ford Escape Hybrid either. Honda had the Civic hybrid.

 

I suspect they showed the "base" Camry Hybrid to point out that the Hybrid technology is available at an average MSRP, what? ~$24,XXX?

Base MSRP is around $27,400. Most cars at the show were loaded out and they had a sticker that said the starting MSRP.

 

Ok, I was wrong on the base MSRP! Wouldn't be the first time I have been wrong in the last 30 years, just ask my wife!

Anyway, Toyota.com shows base MSRP $26,200. Still very reasonable, and I suspect they wanted to show one at that price point rather than at $30,xxx.
