I was wondering about getting an aftermarket GPS and also a backup camera.
I found a lot of posts on back up cameras, but haven't (yet) found one for non-NAV cars.
Couple of questions.

• Are there Bluetooth cameras? I hate wires.
• Are there any combination GPS / Backup camera systems?
• Generally, how much would it cost to install them?
• How well do these work with aftermarket GPS units?

1. Yes there are wireless cameras

3. Aftermarket cameras that are sold at Canadian Tire are about $250++

4. They're separate to GPS (so you'll have one screen for the camera and your portable GPS screen sharing dashboard real estate)

You're looking for a GPS/Back-up combo.

I doubt that you'll find one since they're two completely different functions. Much as finding a dishwasher/refrigerator combo.

Yes, you MIGHT be able to find one, but it would be MUCH MORE expensive than purchasing two separate top-of-the-line individual units.

 

4. Yeah, no. There's no GPS/camera combo. You buy a separate GPS unit (whichever you want) and you buy a separate camera unit (which comes with its own screen of course)

The VR3 backup cameras are (were?) available from Canadian Tire, Costco, and others in Canada for less than $100. They are okay, but the reception of the camera's radio signal (2.4 MHz band) is somewhat variable.

The Garmin Streetpilot 7200 and the Garmin Streetpilot 7500 both support a backup camera. For both of them you will need a video input cable, which has a yellow composite video RCA connector on one end, and has a a plug on the GPS end that looks like an earphone connector. For the 7200, you will also need a "dead reckoning" cable (the 7500 includes this last cable.)
