I live in a cold climate, is there a way to start and warm the vehicle without the ability of someone hopping in and driving away with it without the key. It seems a little foolish for the car to be specifically set up to drive away without a key, no?

Does the TCH warm up quickly in cold (-35 degree C) climates, ie is there a need to run your vehicle for a warm up period.

I do have an engine block heater on mine but have not owned it for the winter yet.
Love the Camry Hybrid so far.

My Camry Hybrid is a 2007, that one only works in 2008, 2009 according to the info. Thanks for your quick reply. Do you know if that is the only option? I dont mind manually starting it but I'm nervous about leaving it running while it warms up and going back inside

The second link specifically states "2007"

It is a dealer part that can be ordered and installed at the dealer. I would contact them. I would guestimate around $550 installed parts/labor.

I think so....I would rather have something 'factory' / 'OEM' vs something else especially with a yota hybrid.

This one I have been looking for--for a while. It looks as if that would be the remote our 'stock' / 'standard' hybrid remotes get replaced with, also giving us ~80ft range.

On my old viper setup I could start 1 mile away...and it was 2-way (so it would tell me it started) LOL

80ft is nothing.

to answer your 2nd question. it depends.

1. my 07 reaches full operating temperature in about a mile drive at 35mph. I consider this being fast.

2. what exactly do you mean by "warm up"? warm up as in reaching 196 coolant degrees, or as in reaching E-mode capability? as those are 2 different animals, and most are concerned with E-mode, as that's when gas savings start. To answer that question, I'd say, at 0 Celsius it takes mine good 15 minutes to get there, and she does not stay in E-mode for too long. Summer time, it's a different story. leave property, by the time you are outta da gate - she's ready to jump into E-mode. That's why winter mpg drops BADLY on those.
