Current 12v battery options

So, at 280,000 plus miles and 11 years my 12v battery finally gave up the ghost. I'm looking for tips or replacement options other than Optima which appear to be junk and only last 3 or 4 years. I have read multiple times where the yellow tops only make it a year.

I remember reading somewhere about an Exide or Interstate option, but I cannot remember where I saw that thread or even if it was on this forum?

Any help pointing me in the right direction is greatly appreciated.

Interstate is made by Johnson Controls, just like Optima. Exide makes their own in the U.S., but they are notorious for contaminating the environment around their plants. IMHO, quality is probably not much better than anything made by Johnson.

If you want a quality product, suck it up and buy the Toyota battery. If you want to save some money and buy something of lower quality, buy anything but the Toyota battery.

Yea... I kind of already figured that. I just wanted to hear someone else say it. Thank you!

The battery from our local dealer was quoted @ $385 for just the battery. Is it possible to source that battery online at a better price?

Probably not. It's a a deep cycle AGM, so it's going to be expensive in any form, and I don't believe it's available on the aftermarket. Any savings you find will likely be offset by shipping costs.
