Extended Warranty

Re: Extended Warranty
I got the name of this dealership from either this forum or the Edmunds.com one, I can't remember which. The dealership I bought my TCH from in Houston, TX wanted $1795 for the authorized Toyota platinum, 0 deductible 7yr./100,000 mi. warranty. I got the very same warranty from:
Mid West Superstore Toyota
Hutchinson, KS
800 530-5789
Mark or Tyrone
price: (Aug. 2, 2006) $990.00
My dealer's financial guy couldn't believe it. He showed me where his price was $20 more than the price I bought it for. Mark in Kansas told me they have a deal worked out with Toyota to buy so many extended warranties a month and they get a volume deal.

Re: Extended Warranty
I actually bought the 6yr/100k/0 Platinum for my TCH from my local dealer two weeks ago at $2199, because I didn't know any better. STUPID!!! After reading online about the prices from Midwest Superstore and Greenfield Toyota, I called up my dealer last Friday to say I was cancelling my warranty with them (you can do that in the first 30 days for a full refund) and purchasing it thru Midwest or Greenfield. My dealer counteroffered with a price of $1099 for the 7yr/100k/0 Platinum. So I stayed with my local dealer even though it's $100 more than I could have gotten, just for the convenience. Plus I figure if they service the car, they will pay more attention since the car was sold by them. (I know it's not supposed to matter, but I think in reality it does).
So if you recently overpaid, you still have a way out!

Re: Extended Warranty
If I have figured this rite it is $1099 7 yr and 100K miles, the standard warrentee is 6 yr or 8 yr 100K, so what is the great advantage? unless you are looking at power train which has 5 years or 60K you would be buying 2 years 40K.

Note: The extended warranty doesn't cover the hybrid stuff (which is already warranted for something like 7-8 yrs, 100k miles).
