Proud owner of a 2010 Toyota Camry Hybrid

Re: Proud owner of a 2010 Toyota Camry Hybrid
thanks, however i had to get the car a roadworthy certificate and they found an oil leak, which i will take it to toyota to get fixed as it is still under warranty.
pretty poor for a car which has only done 6,545 miles.

I hope they point out to you where the oil is leaking before they fix it. I never had a oil leak with any of my toyota's. I did spill some oil on the valve cover once when I was refilling the oil on a oil change I did at home.

yes thanks, however it is not an oil leak as such, just dampness of oil on the underbody, however quite noticable.
so there is no oil dripping onto the concrete (yet)

Could be someone spilled a quart of oil on top the valve cover when filling the engine with oil. That's what I did and it's very hard to get to the side or bottom of the engine to clean it all. During the Spring, my wife cleans the engine when it's sit overnight. She uses a some dove liquid dishwater soap in a half pale of water. Using a wash rag she goes over the engine allowing it to soak for about half hour. She then rinses it off using a gallon of distilled water. Here were we live in the country our well water is rather hard and leaves streaks. Once done the engine looks new. We allow it to dry for a few hours before driving the car.

Re: Proud owner of a 2010 Toyota Camry Hybrid
Hi all,
I had a look underneath of the toyota hybrid and noticed that there is some sort of plastic cover or something but with alot off riplles, is this normal?
Are other cars made like this too?
Have a look at the attached picture.

I you see a drip on the paper under the car, you might use a small piece of plastic tape on the lower edge of you car body. Do this on both sides just across from the drip. Then when up on a lift this make spotting the drip source much easier.
I was going to say the hybrid does have some black plastic air deflectors under the radiator half of the engine to help improve the aerodynamics of the car.
What I see in the picture don't look normal. Could be the tunneling under the car body that carries the traction battery cables up to the inverter under the hood. Somehow this don't look attached to the car body in the picture. It looks centered under the car body so must not be any exhaust or muffler.
If you bought the car new it would be all factory stuff your looking at.
