My understanding is that the windshields on the Camry Hybrids are not the same as on the standard Camrys and are somehow manufactured to provide more soundproofing. If so, I would think the insurance should cover a like-kind replacement, whether Safelite or OEM. Just because it fits, it doesn't mean it's the same quality. OTOH, if they replace it with a standard Camry OEM windshield, that's not the same quality either.

I wish someone here could address whether the difference between the "acoustic" windshield and the standard one is significant. I can only suspect that it is, given that Toyota went to the expense to use it. (Rain Sensor? Does your car have automatic windshield wipers?)

 

Just acoustic but they break and chip easier than the regular windshields. I just put a std Camry windshield in mine...

 

Just curious: Did you notice much increase in background noise?

 

I didn't notice ANY increase in sound.
