Do you mean with the original "remote" control device or with the control on the driver's door?

I know my car will auto-lock/unlock all 4 doors with the control on the driver's side door when the car is in drive, or any other gear for that matter.

I think it would also do the same with the remote, but I'd have to try it; maybe tomorrow.

*edit: no, with the remote, I cannot engage or disengage the door locks while driving.

Here is a link for an online owners manual for the 2003 HCH. I don't believe there are any differences between the 2003 and 2004 models.

While I noticed my 2010 Insight does the auto-lock thing after I hit 10MPH or so, my 2003 Civic never did this. It isn't mentioned in the online manual so I doubt it has the feature.

By the way, with my Insight I can program whether the doors auto-lock when I shift from park, when I hit about 10MPH or it can be disabled. It's more than likely the same for the Gen2 HCH.

@Gairwyn I meant after you start driving, the newer car will automatically lock the doors after 10mph.

@mrkcohen yeah I look in my manual too and didn't find anything about the auto-lock feature. Oh well thought I ask.

I don't remember that the car ever did that. I had an alarm system installed which changed the parameters somewhat, but if I remember correctly I used to manually do the locking of the doors. I couldn't find any info that said anything about it in either the owner's manual or the service manual.
