Question High RPM Problem

I have a 2003 HCH which has 108,000 miles on it. I have noticed in the past week or so some problems with idling being a little rough (almost seems like it wants to quit). Today on the way to work at mid speed (40-50 MPH) the RPM's seemed to jump up, so I let of the gas a little and they stayed where they were. Then the green drive light on the dashboard started blinking and the check engine light came on. I tried to press on the gas a little and it seemed very sluggish and almost reluctant to go. I pulled over to the side and turned the car off and turned it back on and seemed to be running fine again, but the check engine light is still on. can anyone help me with a possible cause of this issue.

Thanks in advance.

Well, at around that mileage most HCH-1 start having some O2 sensor issues and need them replaced. The symptoms are similar to what you report and other maintenance/repair items may also be included in the "package".

Has your car been serviced at a Honda dealership? If not, this is the time to take it in ASAP.

The car has been serviced by the dealership. I had them do a complete check before 100,000 miles.

Great. That means that there will be potentially less outstanding items to correct on your next visit.

Still, I believe the odds are that you'll need an O2 sensor replacement. It is a little pricey, but the quicker you have it done the better it is for your fuel economy and for the vehicle's emission's system.

i would actually say it sounds more like a cvt or ima problem. which green light came on in the dash? when you see problems starting with the cvt you will get some rough running and some chattering on accell.

reply with what light it was and it may give me a better idea as to what your looking at

You may have to get your EGR valve cleaned. Take it off and clean it with a good carb cleaner. H

I have to agree with Harold. I had a similar problem and it was my EGR
