It sucks that there isn't a Haynes manual yet so I don't really know the location of the transmission drain and fill bolts. Someone provide some direction and/or pics?

All I need are three quarts of transmission fluid and the crush washer for the drain bolt? Any other tips I should worry about? Thanks in advance.

 

search back in the threads, there was a very instructive/helpful one a year or two ago. About all I remember from it was "It's a royal PITA to get the @%#& bolt off (the @%& bastards), but once it's off, it's smooth sailing from there."

Assuming you know where the CVT is, the drain bolt is the big one on the bottom of the CVT, and the fill is the one with the dipstick in it on the top.

You'll need a 3/8" socket drive wrench, and that leads to:

The CVT drain bolt, like all Honda transmission drain bolts over the years, has a round head and socket that accepts 3/8" drive. It's the only such bolt in the vicinity, pretty easy to spot.

Regarding the 3 US quarts, I'd get one more. Put in 3 quarts after the drain (let it drain thoroughly). Then do the hot check as described in the owners manual: it say's to check level with engine warmed, within 60-90 seconds of shutdown. The level should be between the 2 marks on the hot side.

I've found this check necessitates a further addition of 300~cc of fluid to even get the level up to the low mark on the hot side of dipstick. When I recheck on cold engine, the level is well over the cold side full mark.

So to date, I'm still not sure I understand Honda's instruction, you might be best to stick with the 3 quarts and forget about it.
