Default Anyone notice Shell gas is best??

Ive run most of the major brands thru my hch and see a noticable mpg increase with Shell 87. Anyone else seen a difference?

There are SO many factors that can effect a 600 mile tank (changes in weather, tire pressure, different commute, weekend getaway, more highway miles, more short trips, etc.) that I would argue it is impossible to compare one tank to the next accurately...

I would be amazed if scientific testing yielded any benefit of Shell over anything else.

I can't think of a Shell station in town, but I'll pay attention and see if I can find one. What the heck--I've tried crazier things that that in the name of fuel economy.

Shell 97? Why are you running premium gas in an engine that is only suggested to run 87? waste of money if the engine is running fine on 87...as it should be.

I'm gonna guess this is a typo. You can have 87, 89, 91, 93, 100, or 110 but nothing in between.

Unless it was measured in RON, not North American octane... I'm pretty sure I've seen 97 RON in Europe which would translate to about 91 octane.

Edit: by the way, our standard grade in Colorado is 85 octane due to the altitude...

I meant 87 octane. Anyway, I notice with using Shell I get about 10 pct better FE. Right now Im getting over 50 with Shell, actually got 55.4 on the 405 average over 25 miles door to door. Havent been able to get close to that without Shell gas.
