Can you guess how far I've gone?

Can you guess how far I've gone?
How many miles do you guess I've gone so far on this tank?
Actually, I'll go ahead and post this pic below that was also taken a moment ago.
I am trying for my best tank ever.
Also, the actual MPG has averaged 1.4 MPG higher at the pump than at the dash.
So the MPG is really 71.7 so far.
My goal was a 70 MPG tank but now since I have blown away that goal I'm uncertain what to shoot for.

Re: Can you guess how far I've gone?
It depends.
I fill up when all bars disappear.
Then I pump about 10.4 gallons till the pump shuts off.
I don't pump more after that.
Supposedly the tank hold over 12 gallons but I'm scared to drive after all the bars are gone.
I don't know if the extra 2 gallons is at the top or the bottom of the tank.
Or how much is at each.
What do you guys do?
Has anyone run out of gas?
If so, how far did you go after the bars were all gone?

Re: Can you guess how far I've gone?
What do you think your average speed has been on that tank of gas?
I am only getting about 42 mpg in my hybrid. Never even seen the computer grade me above 47 mpg! Do I have to drive 20 miles in hour and down hill everywhere to get that milage?
My hybrid is not broke in yet.... 1800 miles on her

It is mostly freeway miles on cruise control with no AC and almost no hills, and no passengers.
Average temp is about 70 in the morning and 80 in the evening.
No rain and almost no driving with headlights because of the long days.
These are optimum conditions for MPG.
Actually 15 degrees warmer would be better.
Above that I might be reaching for the AC.
Also I suspect 48 MPH is still too fast but I can't go slower.
Even going 48 is crazy.

Much different here in Birmingham, Alabama.... Lots of small hills and AC is ALWAYS ON!! Temp here is most of the time in the mid 80s to mid 90s. I would melt if I did not have my AC!
Maybe this next winter I will get to try for the better milage.

Re: Can you guess how far I've gone?
Kenny,
I always reset Trip B to zero as soon as the gas light comes on. I also note the Trip A mileage in my fuel log. I have an excel spreadsheet that, among other things, calculates the amount of fuel left in the tank when the light comes on. On the 14 tanks where recorded the gas light mileage, I've had 1.6 gallons left.
I then watch trip B for the rest of the tank and head to the gas station when I get close to 1.5 times my Trip B FE. I usually end up putting in about 11.6 gallons. The most I've ever put in was 12.0 gallons.
Of course, I'm assumming my tank really holds 12.3, and not less. I always top off too since that actually keeps me away another day from the pump.
