Default code P0A7F - DIY battery replacement?

From what I've read that code menas the IMA battery is croaked.

Local junkyards have several options- from $600 with 37,000 miles to $400 with 70,000 miles.

And none of them want my old battery.

Seems like it should be worth something to someone.

Has anyone replaced the battery themselves?

I know I read something here but i can't find the links.

My concern with purchasing a used battery would be this warning in the "Vehicle Storage" section in the 2006 HCH owners manual.

"If this vehicle is unused for over one month, the service life of the 158v Nickel-Medal Hydride battery will be reduced and the battery may be permanently damaged."

I wonder how many HCHs have degraded IMA batteries due to lack of use or time sitting on a used car lot?

THat would be a major concern-

i assume this means while the battery is in the car and connected to the computer.

Surely it must be possible to store batteries for longer than 30 days?

But in the case of a wrecked car, It could be more than a month between wreck, salvage auction, and dismantling of the car.

I have stored my 2006 HCH11 on two occasions for 2 months with no ill effects. The SOC had not dropped a bar on both occasions. My pack is still like the day I drove it home. Took a drive to see a friend yesterday 15 miles to his place and return. Temperature at 28 degrees and when I arrived home she read 74 mpg. 50 mph and slower. H
