Wow, that is awesome. How did you cut the metal? What tools do I get to buy?

Maybe for aluminum.
H, do you feel confident that it will hold it you get rear ended?
This is a safety issue and I want to use the same material the seat connection is already made of -- steel.

I am confident the Aircraft aluminum will hold but the 5/16 bolt I used to connect the backets together, could shear in a rear ender. A person could use two bolts if he has concerns! You could also install a safety sling as a back up, in case the bolt shears. For the comfort I have gained for my back-side and knee , I'm going to put it out of my mind.H

Actually, I used a Sawsall, but a hack saw will work with patience. Harold is right aluminum will work as well, but either is a lot stronger than the body pan. For the seat to tear loose, the rear bolt would have to shear, and the front bolts would have to tear loose from the body pan. If you are in that severe a collision, you would be toast anyway!

I have a sawsall and an corded drill. I didn't think they were heavy duty enough to do the job. I prob need to buy a new saw insert for the steel though.
I will try the mod this weekend.
Man, we sure need to start a new thread..
Thanks to Per and Harold for taolking me into it.

Just make sure you use a metal cutting blade in your Sawsall, and it will work fine. I recommend eye protection and be careful with the metal shavings. I used a grinder to eliminate any sharp edges also.

I used a 90deg. grinder with a cutting wheel from Harbour Frieght and a dril press. You will find it to be a very simple task, noflash! Pc. of cake, Hope you are as happy with the mod as I am! H

I made the peices last night, but I didn't have the right socket size for the bolts!!
Oh well, the hard part is over. I just get to go the hardware store to buy more tools.
