Difference Between 2003 and 2006?
I had a 2003 Honda Civic Hybrid 5-speed until last Thursday someone crossed traffic and decided to total it for me. I was able to "acquire" the IMA battery and was going to sell it. However, I found a 2006 for cheap that needs an IMA battery. Are these two batteries at all compatible? Can I take the cells out of the 03 and put them in the 06 pack? Sorry if this is a naive question but, I just want to be sure and you all are the experts. I have rebuilt a pack in the past so the technical aspect of it is no big deal to me. The pack I have is a freshly (last year) rebuilt (new cells) unit from Greentec auto. I wouldn't specifically recommend them but I did spend the money on the pack and would like to take advantage of it if I can and still upgrade to a slightly newer car. And I do like this Honda line.
Thanks, Chris |

Not compatible in any way.
Stay away from 06+ HCH. Their batteries are junk. |

Wow, thanks for the quick response and confirms what I thought from other threads. Well, my follow up question is if I had a choice between a 2003 5speed like what I had or an automatic 2006 with the same miles. Which is better overall?

Go with the 03. Probably much cheaper and you can put the pack you just bought in it. I looked up the kbb value of my 03 in rough condition (hail damage and rust spots starting) and it was only $350. Maybe you can pick up one dirt cheap that has a bad battery since you already have the replacement battery.
