Default Glide vs. Assist vs. Charge

There are a group of people who post here who use the term glide to describe coasting with the valves closed and NO assist. There are others who use the term glide to describe driving with the valves closed BUT using battery power to assist the car. This was confusing to me as a newbie, and I still don't know which group is "right".

Could we agree on what the term "glide" means and sticky it?

How about coasting with no assist, no gas being used and charging the battery.

How about with the valves opened, because if the valves are closed the engine will not be able to keep turning as the compression would keep building up and the car would quickly come to a stop.

Are you sure? You should watch this video about our engine on Honda's website.

In particular, the following starts at approximately the 2 min 50 sec mark.

When cruising at low speeds, the engine's combustion stops and the electric motor takes over. The engine's valves remain closed and the cylinders sealed to prevent the resistance and pumping losses that occur during engine aspiration.

So I guess that the theory is if you don't let any more air in then you have nothing to compress. Interesting have you ever tried to turn an engine over by hand with all the valves closed still seems to make compression. Now all you have done is make me want to go tear my brand new engine apart to see exactly how it works. I think maybe I should put a few more miles on first thou. Thanks for the video it was quite interesting.
