Default Heat wave!

Finally, I am seeing some decent mileage. With temps in the single digits for weeks my last four tanks have all been under 40 mpg, with one at 36.9!

Temps this week have sky-skyrocketed to the 40s and at the halfway point, I am at 41 mpg.

Hopefully we can ride these temps to spring.

Anyway it's good to be back.

Yes! 50.7 mpg on the way home from work last night and 48 mpg on the way in this morning!

Because of consistent mileage between 37 and 45, I was starting to be paranoid that my mechanic added non 0w20 motor oil during my last change (like another poster here) but now I'm pretty certain he did the right thing, and cold was the real suspect.

My last tank was my first sub 40mpg. I hit 39.5. WIth the snowstorm and the cold temps I knew I would take a hit. I also had been going to pump up the tires for the last 3 weeks.
Well after filling the tank I add air to the tires. At cold they were in the low to mid 20psi. Worse than I realized. I brought them up to 42psi.

WIth 40 miles on this tank, warmer temps (but certainly not summertime), and better air pressure in tires, I am at 52 mpg.

It will be interesting to see how this tank progresses.

Just think of the hit in FE that all of the other vehicles (non-hybrid) took as well. I have a HCH 1 and was getting 5.5 litres/100 kilometres. My Intrepid was getting 14 litres/100 kilometres over the past few weeks of Great Canadian winter.
