Default New 09 Owner

Just wanted to say hi and ask an important Question. Going to be picking up my 2009 in a cpl days and am curious about the rear control arms issue. The 2009's appear to sit better in the rear, I am assuming they have rectified this now?

I just got a great deal on one, I have an 07 Accord on lease which they are allowing me to return with 0 penalty and get into a Black on tan Hybrid Civic for 2.9% financing with nothing down and $1000 off the vehicle...I am stoked, have wanted one for a while and they are not selling any up here in Vancouver right now, so got a good deal to get out of my Accord.

Glad to be here!

2009 does not have a upper control arm issue! You will enjoy your new HCH2. It will teach you how to drive, all over again! It has so much to help you be more efficient! It puts fun back into driving! Welcome, fuelmiser. Hal

Well I picked her up today, very nice so far, just arrived from a 200 km trip. I can say that the 09 appears quieter and smoother than the 07's and 08's we have in our fleet. Appears to Glide easier, and auto shut off always works no matter what, when you stop. Averaging 4.5 L per 100km on the first 200 kms. I may regret the tan colour seats though already have a small stain.

Go to Home Depot and get Folex... the best stain remover you will ever find.

Second tank 70 MPG Imperial (59 MPG US) 4.0 L per 100 km.

Man, my fuel economy readout showed higher than what I got , it showed 4.4 L per 100 km. Officially Love the car now, have figured out on my 40 km commute where to get the most out of it.

Ok I am done now......until next tank, also registered all my economy on here.

Welcome and congrats on your new HCH.

You're off to a great start if you can get 4.0 l/100km already. Most people find their actual mileage is slightly better than what the car displays. Warmer weather and moderate speeds really do help the mileage.

The newer HCHs have been re-programmed to address some of the issues with the CVT and auto-stop. It's quite possible the other cars you drove haven't been "reflashed". Tires also seem to make a big difference in the road noise. Do you have the Dunlops like my car? They're not the quietest tire but seem to have low rolling resistance when pumped up. Many people run 40 psi +/- to increase their FE.

Cheers,

Roger

I have the Dunlops yes, I put them to 44 but found that was to harsh a ride so i have them set to 40 which is a good compromise. Just a note the road noise increases as you increase PSI, I had them set at 35 when i picked it up and they were dead quiet, put them to 44 was very loud, then back to 40 a bit quieter.
I also noticed my 2009 sits different in the rear, a lot of older ones I see have the rear tires that look saggy in the rear , off camber. Mine sits a bit higher the tires are straight up and down in the back, so I assume this is the fix for the rear control arms.

I was able to get the economy as I had a chance to learn hypermiling techniques on the work ones, I always get in them and see 8L per 100 km on the display as nobody cares how they drive them. Saw 10L per 100 km on it a few times, I cringed!
