Seat belt buckle

2006 Honda Civic hybrid
car got into a minor fender bender where the seat belts locked. So now I have the airbag light on. I replaced the passenger and driver side seat belts with good ones but the ABS light is still on. I’m assuming the latches that the seat belts click into also need to be replaced? Is there something I can do to reset the buckle part or do I need to replace them? Thanks

You're assuming the ABS light and the seat belts are related. Do you know this?

Sorry my mistake. It’s not the ABS light it’s the airbag light that’s on. I will edit the above to reflect that.

That begs the question... is the airbag light linked to the seat belt light? I don't know, and I wouldn't assume it. IIRC from my Civic days, there was a fasten seat belt light at the top right at the "P" and "R" dots and the airbag light at the bottom right below the "L" dot. Is that the case?

If so, then you're likely dealing with an airbag issue as an impact is very likely to affect that system.

I recommend you disconnect your 12V battery for 5 minutes and then reconnect. See if the issue returns.

Thanks for the response... this is what the dash looks like as of now (disregard the brake light as I have the E-brake on):

Definitely the airbag light. Did you try the 12V disconnect?

Have you had the car checked for DTCs? If you have O'Reilly Auto Parts in your area, they use Bosch brand code readers and can usually pull up many codes other's can't.

I did try to disco the 12v for at least an hour. Still came back up. The only safety device not changed was the seat belt latch. I looked at a picture of the latch and it has a lot of mechanisms to it. I’m assuming it’s a 1 time use item that requires to be replaced. I’m not certain about the mechanics of the buckle but below is a screen shot of the unit

At this point running diagnostics is prudent.
