Default Trading in 07 Escalade for 08 HCH

Hello All,

I live in NYC, so driving around town can kill MPGs. I sold my Infiniti G35 coupe for a 07 Escalade in July 09. Truck runs ok but after my trip to Orlando late September I drove a Prius Hybrid and I was blown away with the 190miles I did and only 3 gallons needed to be refilled before I returned the car. So after some research I found a nice one owner Civic Hybrid. I placed a deposit on a 2008 Civic Hybrid with 40k for $15,500. Picking it up this Monday. Several posts mentioned some software updates, and that it ruined their MPGs. Is there a way to know if that update has been done to a car?

Thanks

Any Honda dealer will be able to get a print out on all work performed at a Honda Dealer. You can only get the updates at a Honda store. Good luck and enjoy your HCH11 Hal

Thumbs up Re: Trading in 07 Escalade for 08 HCH

Congrats! Mileage most likely won't be Prius level, but thank you for putting far fewer greenhouse gases in the air, fewer pollutants and helping reduce our dependence on foreign oil.

Per http://www.fueleconomy.gov/feg/sbs.htm, (based on 45% highway driving, 55% city driving, 15000 miles/year, assuming you got EPA combined mileage) an 08 HCH emits 4.4 tons of CO2/year vs. 13.1 tons for an 07 Escalade. Per http://www.epa.gov/greenvehicles/Index.do, the HCH scores a 9.5/10 on the EPA pollution score vs. a 6/10 for the Escalade. http://www.epa.gov/greenvehicles/Aboutratings.do has more info on this.

I thought about the Prius, but interior is much nicer and comfortable over Toyota. I was split between an 07 Prius 34k $16900 over the 08 HCH with 40k for 15,900. I do feel better that my footprint has been improved and yet alone gas consumption! I wasted $600 for every 3000 miles I did with the Caddy driving in NYC. I hope I stay under $200 for every 3000 miles with Civic.

The database on this site has data collected from nearly 3,000 Civic Hybrid and Prius owners. Statistically, the Civic gets about 97 percent as good gas mileage as the Prius. That's close enough for me.
