Exclamation 2007 vue greenline 98000 miles P0121 code

Hi,

I just complete the idle learn process after cleaning the throttle body. So, now I have no dtc's but when using curise the tachometer keeps moving between 2000 and 3000 rpms.

Any Idea?

Thanks,
Rod

Flat road? Speed set point? 3000 rpm on that dual overhead cam engine is not a big deal. It still has a step gear transmission and locking torque converter. So the terrain, how much stuff in car, and vehicle speed will be very helpful here.

2000 to 3000 seems a little outside the range of a locked or unlocked torque converter.

It might be downshifting.

Additional info. Flat road running at 45 mph for 5 miles (just today 02/10/12). tach moving up and down every second or two and "ECO" light going on and off. This is while using 'D'. If I shift to 'I' (intermediate) the problem goes away.

It sounds like "hunting" the step gear transmission and engine looking for an operating condition. Did you try turning off the ECO button too. Shifting to 'I' will restrict change the upper gears available like overdrive. I don't think anything is broken but most of us older guys that grew up driving John Deer (big push rod) engine powered cars are not used to tachometers above 2500. I went through a similar situation on my sisters 5-speed manual Vue. She lived in Park City and worked in Salt Lake City. She wanted to go over the pass in overdriv). It' ok to let it rev a little. Maybe check owners manual on the ECO and 'I' settings too.
