In countries like Italy, they call it fascism (government takes over business). Obama's new friend, Chavez, refers to it as progressive socialism.
The irony is that GM will like (and should) file bankruptcy.
I think Fiat will have a tough enough challenge getting their small cars to meet US emissions. I think Tata would've really-really struggled.
When I posted this the other day, I should've included the link. Nardelli has already commited to stepping down after the Fiat deal is complete.

If Nardelli doesn't close the deal with Fiat, you can bet he will be fired.

BTW, fascism is almost the total opposite of what you described. Government doesn't take over business, business interests take over and dictate government policy. Instead of industry being nationalized, the citizens are nationalized to boost industry.....

Ugh. The right wants to blame Obama for the mess they left him with. GM makes a great hybrid drive- I have had three hybrid SUVs and the Tahoe drive is the best. Had they made this product when the Prius was introduced or signed on for central pay health care or made any of a dozen other decisions, GM would still control it's own destiny. Instead it bellies up to the trough like a socialist company and has the nerve to complain about government control. Amazing.

While that was a little extreme, and a zing perhaps. It seemed to really tick you off, and getting you THAT mad, really wasn't my intention...

No car company would be subject to government control (to the extent that CEOs get canned) if they didn't eat at the public trough.
