Lightbulb Tax Credit Eligibility

As we are eligible for NONE of the credit in this IRS bait and switch, I'm curious what others are going to get.

We got all of the credit, but that does not change our dismay at the misrepresentation of the credit by the IRS. We were fortunate that our situation allowed us the entire credit, but many others will be screwed. All it would take is for enough of us to make a stink about it...who will unite us?

10% for me. If you want to feel better you can always reduce your other deductions to allow more of the hybrid tax credit to kick in. You know all those shady deductions you claim. You can be honest this year and just get more of your hybrid credit. In the end you still pay the same tax. This really sucks.

I know its a pretty lame idea, but maybe it will make someone feel better to get some of the credit that is due them. Even if they have to give it to themselves.

Bought mine used. Never expected any tax savings.

Holy cow! Those are some scary numbers. Hopefully the trend changes by the time all the results are in. I'm running my own business, so I'm in the process of planning my tax strategy for the 2007. Shesh... wish me luck.

14 votes? Come on. Figure it out and vote already!

So far, well over 70% of us are getting less than 50% of the full credit. 42% of us are getting nothing.

Three cheers for the IRS!

A well populated poll will have 50-70 votes but this one is limited pretty much to those who bought recently.

I suspect that there are many who have yet to figure their taxes. Refund or not, they're just a pain.

I don't think I can vote on this one because I didn't buy mine recently, but I will throw in my two cents. When I got my HCH, the federal tax benefit was still a deduction, not a credit. So if I translate that into what it would mean today, then if my tax rate is 15%, I would have gotten 15% of the 'credit' because it was a deduction. Does that make sense? So I'm in the <20% group. Sort of.

Ironically, a deduction would have actually been applicable to my filing to increase my refund.
