Help with removing the jack kit on 2009 Ford Escape Hybrid
 

Hello!

My mom has a flat tire and while taking out the jack kit in her car, realized she was missing a tool to take out the screws to the hub cap.

I reasoned that my jack kit (2009 Ford Escape Hybrid) would probably have one, but when trying to take out from the door in the plastic trim, I realized that I ca't even do that. Reading the vehicle's user manual, there are three steps:

1. Taking out the thumbscrew that holds it in place (DONE)
2. Releasing the retention clip n the upper part of the jack bracket
3. Dislodging the jack from the bracket.

I can't do step two?! there is a yellow dot on the end of the bar and i am pushing the bar back through pressure, but nothing is coming loose. I can't follow these instructions successfully.
