Default External temperature sensor displays 10 degrees too warm

I have a 2008 Mercury Mariner Hybrid. The external temperature sensor (thermometer) consistently displays the outside temperature to be approximately 10 degrees too warm. How can I calibrate it? I cannot find this information in the owners manual.

The thermistor in my '92 LS400 was mounted on the front bumper structure too close to the condensor/radiator "stack" so it was being radiantly heated. Moving the thermistor sensor to the far right inside of the bumper solved the problem.
