Ummm... you have been in denial since the day you got the codes. I absolutely, positively don't believe that NO ONE you have spoken with at a dealership or other organization didn't mention the hybrid battery as a possibility. If you claim otherwise, you weren't listening.
To your question, generally speaking, the vast majority of the entities you mention put forth the minimum amount of effort they think they can get away with, and most claimed experts aren't.
You wanted a different answer and wouldn't accept it as the problem. You may have had other issues, but you've basically been asking people to diagnose problems when a primary component of the propulsion system is minimally operable. You likely spent a lot of ICE repair dollars chasing the hybrid battery failure.
An obstinate customer is always their own worse enemy. They make the repairs take much longer, cost more and require multiple visits.
The precise reason I was put into denial was because I suspected the hybrid system in the very beginning. I took the car to the shop that eventually did the engine overhaul because he was the ONLY mechanic in town who claimed to be a hybrid mechanic. He was the first to tell me there was nothing wrong with the hybrid system. Then I had the P0308 and took it back to him. He jacked me around for a week then later, 6 weeks and again for a week.
In between that, I took the car to a DEALERSHIP in North Carolina. I committed to a FULL diagnosis. He said nothing was wrong with the hybrid system, but the 12V terminal was loose, and that there could be loose connections between computer modules.
I then took it to a HYBRID BATTERY SPECIALIST who cleaned the whole system, but also couldn't find anything wrong with the hybrid battery system.
So, yes, I suspected the hybrid battery from the beginning. I relied on professionals to confirm that. I also had an ICE issue, which, in the case of GMs, must be fully functional. I can live with intermittent battery problems, but not a worn cam.
Now I have some time to buy to see if that guy with the refurbished pack is successful.

Hello, guys. I registered this account specifcly to post here, looking for help. 2008 Tahoe Hybrid with 181000 miles, I am the original owner. A very long story, shortened. I have had all the symptoms mentioned above for a very long time. They have just gotten progressively worse. In the beginning only happend when outside temp reached well above 100'F and even then very rare. Got to a point where the damm thing was just too frustrating to drive. I was able to take it to the dealer, and finally they COULD REPLICATE my complaint. Because the RPM,herky-jerky,sluggish acceleration,surges,and occasional stalls happened 100% of the time. The crappy thing is I complained to dealership at 90k of these symptoms and they could never replicate it. The dealership repaired the battery recently by cleaning the buss bars and regenerating the battery back to health, and oh yea they also cleaned out the fans. Supposedly, battery overheating and not getting charged up correctly. That set me back $600. Drove it home, and the very next morning right out of the gate it was acting up. Drove it back to the dealer and was told I needed a new battery. I purchased a refbished battery from a company, that at current time I chose to keep unnamed. However I will happily name them, if I find out they have rooked me. They replaced the battery and it drove like it was brand new. I was able to get the old MPG. I was so excited. But that only lasted 3 WEEKS. Yesterday the darn thing started the RPM revving again, with a little bit of the sluggish acceleration. Called the referbish company and they want me to take it to the dealership to have the diagnostic done,to get the codes. What a bunch of crock. Where can I get that scanner tool for the hybrid battery, the one that made that graff in the above post? And is this the right ave I need to explore due to the fact the dealership historically has been of no use anything hybrid.
