For 2010, GM has added the ability to run E85 in the Silverado/Sierra hybrids. I always wondered why they include E85 capability in the first place, but it is nice to see now. I haven't seen indications of this offered for the Tahoe/Yukon yet.

The Silverado/Sierra also get changes to the interior door trim, and seat mounted side air bags (in addition to the side curtain air bags).

The Tahoe/Yukon get a USB port on the console for playing back music, and charging portable devices.

The Tahoe/Yukon get exterior color changes, as well. Added are Taupe Grey Metallic, and Sheer Silver Metallic. Removed are Blue Granite Metallic, Silver Birch Metallic, and Deep Ruby Metallic.

I briefly wondered about that but in my area (major metropolitan city) there are EXACTLY 2 stations that sell that fuel. Until gas is regularly $3.50 a gallon or more there is simply no incentive to make that fuel as it costs so much more to make due to our current infrastructure of distiller/refiners.

 

We have one whole station for the entire city of Los Angeles, and no others in the Metro area. While E85 compatiblity is not a big factor now, it is nice to be prepared for the future, especially if there was a gas shortage. It could give you an alternative. It's also nice to be able to use renewable fuels if desired, something most hybrids can't do.

We have E85 here in the midwest, but I can't imagine we will forever. The pressure it put on corn prices made it less desireable than initially thought. On the other hand, if biofuels continue to progress with the cellulose project- using the stalk instead of the grain- we have a whole nother animal!
