Jet, is your vehicle 4WD or 2WD?

These things were torture tested in Death Valley, pulling 6,200lbs. There is no KNOWN issue with temp. As of today, I don't see any TSBs on it. Of course, we are on the cutting-edge of one of the most advanced vehicles on the road...

I'm sticking with my fan-motor failure in the battery pack as the most likely theory (being an electrical engineer with 25 years of experience).

I just bought a GMC Sierra hybrid. One thing I have noticed is that no one on a forum seems to own on of these yet. With 100 miles so far no problems but I am noticing a lot of new quirks to learn. Time will tell if this was a good purchase. My biggest disappointment so far is the way GM markets these truck. You can't order them equipped "just" the way you want them.

Default well....

the Yukon, the Tahoe the Escalade and the pickups are all basically the same system underneath. As far as options go they wanted to simplify the decisions made so they (IMHO) came up with a package to market. I think that part of the concern was that they couldn't sell them if they were under or OVER dressed.
The system is great! My yukon keeps getting better and better. It is regularly returning 23 to 24 mpg in town. You really need to learn the various feedback systems in the thing to optimize your mileage. one of the most important gauges in the truck is the instant fuel mileage reading in the bottom half of the speedo as it tells you real time what the engine is doing. IOW cruising at 80 mph if you look at the gauge you will probably be in V8 mode. if you slightly feather off the gas you will still be going 80 in V4 mode. It makes a big difference in your overall mileage. The hybrid assist will kick in battery power to make up the difference as needed but I have found that I can easily keep mine in V4 mode most of the time and keep up with and even pass other drivers. It will take a bit of time to get your butt dyno tuned in but it will happen.
I think the biggest problem with these is they are COMPLEX and the dealers really need a specialist on staff to demo them. If they did that I think sales would go up drastically.
good luck with yours

Yes, and they specifically removed some options to save weight. Less power/moving junk, lighter seats, etc. Also, they forced some options on the vehicle that have good margins to make up for the loss they take on the hybrid drivetrain.
