Silverado Hybrid Mileage 2009 vs. 2010 vs. 2011

What reason(s) give the 2010 or 2011 Silverado 4X4 Hybrid better fuel economy than the 2009? Is it a software change? Is it revised EPA figuring? Something else? Thank you in advance.

if it is like the escalde hybrid, backing up can be electric instead of ICE and the final drive gear ratio was also changed.
