Default XM Traffic

I have an '08 Tahoe. I subscribe to the full boat OnStar and XM. I did one update disk for the nav system. Does anyone know how to get XM traffic on the nav system? I cannot believe that GM changed the hardware on the '09s to get traffic, it has to be software somewhere.

C'mon, anyone? Thanks.

you have to buy the xm traffic together with the onstar bundle. I did that when I renewed my contract. or you can call them directly and it would activate the xm traffic function.

I don't think thats correct. Went on the onstar website and xm traffic is not listed. For the 2008 chevy tahoe Tahoe that I own.

my mistake, the traffic is part of the xm bundle because it is live traffic. thus if you subscribe to xm you can add the traffic function.

I called On-Star and added the live traffic BUT it doesn't seem to work on the radio nav. There is not button on the radio to turn it on, software must be different some where. The dealer is of no help. He thought that XM traffic was a channel on the XM radio. Is there some firmware that needs update or is it just not possible on the '08? I really cannot believe that there is some significant change between the '08 and '09 in the radio.

It's not possible. You would need to change out the head unit to an 09. I don't know why, but this is what I have heard. Must be a hardware issue.

Bummer. I wouldn't have thought that GM would have changed something like that in one year. I would have thought it was something in software. I'll cancel the subscription.
