Default 3 Unit Systems

I'm currently coding some extra features for version 2.1 of the mileage database. I need some quick information on the 3 unit systems people use today. The first, I know, is the US system. Miles per US gallon and Miles. Then there's the metric system, L/100km and kilometers. Finally, there's the Imperial system. This is the one I'm confused about. Is it called the Imperial system or the UK system? They use Miles per Imperial gallon, correct? Distance is in miles? *confused*

I'm also looking up conversion formulas.

The US system is a derivative of the Imperial (UK) system, except they use different size gallons, but miles and everything else is the same. They are both called Imperial, but get distinguished by US Imperial or UK Imperial.

There are two ways of doing measurements in S.I. (metric) such as the international common way (L/100km) and then there's the Japan standard of km/L which gives you the same kind of graph as miles/gallon.

To get L/100km -- 235.2146/MPG

For km/L -- 0.4251*MPG

For UK MPG -- 1.2*MPG

Thanks for the help. I've completed the conversion system. All's left to do is implement it. If you click here you can see the conversion test. I'm going to double-check the values using some converter on the web.

What number are you using for miles to km? Google says 1.609344

I would have used $value*1.609344

But your method is pretty close.

There's also temperature, although I guess it's not too important to be accurate, it's

(5/9)*($value-32)

you forgot the 32
I started implementing the conversions and am almost trouble-free. But, the standard deviation and error for the main page don't seem to be quite correct. For the Accord in Metric, we have:

7.89
7.93
8.54–7.11
55.81
374.39
45

55.81 is the SD and 374.39 L/100km is the error? Seems wrong to me. Anyone know Metrics who can verify this is correct?

You may have to feed metric data into the calculation for SD and error, I'm not sure if the results of the US data can be easily converted into the equivalent of the metric data's SD and error.
