Energy Bill Nears Vote
CNN Story
It's better than nothing, but raising CAFE standards or gas pump prices would be more serious. Don't really object to anything in the bill.

It also would:
- Provide subsidies and tax breaks for wind, geothermal and solar industries.
- Require new efficiency standards for commercial appliances from air conditioners to refrigerators.
- Extend daylight saving time by a four weeks to save energy.
- Require utilities to meet federal reliability standards for the electric transmission grid, hoping to avoid future blackouts such as struck in the summer of 2003.
- Eases the way for more imports of liquefied natural gas by giving federal regulators final say over import terminals.

I think the daylight savings part is retarded, but then again I live in Arizona where we have more daylight than we know what to do with and never go on DST in the first place. Like you said, a raise in CAFE would be nice, but I don't see anything objectionable in the bullet points.
