Just bought one of those 2008 FEH workshop manuals off eBay. Hopefully it'll tell me something about the 2008, which would at least give me a platform to guesstimate what's in the 2009. Except for the engine, doesn't look too much different from the 2008's.

There are so many changes to the '09 FEH that the Helms manuals are still not available. I bought the '09 FEH PCM/ED manual from Helms a few months ago but the Workshop manuals are still not available from their website. I'm on their notification e-mail list and checked the site the other day to see if they forgot about me, but their still not available.

What about the CD version? Looks like the 2009 FEH Service CD is available for $170, same price as the printed workshop manual. Supposedly the one I bought off eBay which is an original Ford DVD, has all the manuals in it.

I'm not sure how the DVD works from Helms, but I've heard of cheap copies sold on eBay that don't work properly. I'm sure Helms makes sure their DVD cannot be bootlegged and sold on ebay as a copy. For this reason I've bought the hard copies on eBay in the past. In addition, why buy a $170 DVD from Helms that will state '09 information is not available yet? Most likely after the downloaded Helms DVD has taken place, updates are allowed to include newer information online. This may be a problem with the bootlegged disc copies.

Sorry to resurrect an old thread but is there an easy location in the FEH (2006 here) to tap fairly high power ~12vdc inside the cabin? I'll probably be pulling somewhere around 25A or so.

Well, I found a copy of the Ford service manuals DVD and it is really enlightening. Much of the wiring in these vehicles is much smaller than you would think it should be. My best guess is that the Ford engineers are assuming that most of the "high power" loads will only be used intermittently so they don't need large wiring or connectors.

It looks like the best place to tap in for any sort of real power is at the battery or at the fuse links for the DC/DC converter. The DC/DC converter has a PAIR of 6awg outputs with very large fuses so I guess the rumors of 100A output are true.
