Air Conditioner, Things I learned
2007 Ford Escape Hybrid.
A/C was cycling on high pressure when the battery called for A/C but it was not on for the passengers. Also A/C worked at highway speeds, but not very good in traffic. I can't find a solenoid valve to turn on freon flow to the rear A/C. It comes on when the passenger A/C is on or when the battery temp is about 90 Degrees F. I replaced the Expansion valve to the rear A/C and still had same problem. Makes me think it is a poor design. I will work good and cool battery when passenger A/C is on. The passenger A/C has a solenoid valve to keep it off when battery calls for A/C. I took the insides out of the solenoid valve so that when either the battery or passenger calls for A/C, both have freon flow. This keeps it from cycling on high pressure when battery only calls for A/C. There is also a load valve in the compressor that I changed to fix the A/C in traffic. It did help, but not sure if completely fixed or not. I have only drove it for a little while and need to drive more to see if everything is ok. Hopefully this is helpful to someone. |
