Brake Service at non-dealer

Hello - I'm new to this forum. My 06 FEH has 87k miles on it and the brakes have been making some noises. I was curious if I could get this looked at somewhere like Midas or a regular repair show. What have your experiences been?

Do hybrids have different breaking systems? Or are they the same as regular cars? (I'm very much a car novice, other than enjoying my hybrid!)

Thanks so much!!

They have a very high pressure brake system and special tools are required - i would go to the Ford dealership that has Hybrid certified mechanics if it is anything beyond pads.

Special tools are not required at least for normal friction surface servicing. You do have to put the car into service mode so that the brakes won't pressurize while you have the calipers off of the disks. I changed the rear pads on my '06 without significant difficulty.

No special tools required. jworth is correct, the only difference is you have to the brake system in service mode. 05 FEH manual shows to pull fuses 24(50A) and 31(50A) located in battery junction box.

And what does a corner lube shop do if it is more than pads? Are they savvy enough to remove the correct fuses?

Let us know how you made out.

If were taking mine to a shop, I'd pull my owners manual and show them the relevant section.
