FEH -Remote for keyless entry

Hello Group,

The programming on the remote for keyless entry to my FEH '07 has changed somehow.

It used to unlock only the driver's door on the first click and the remaining doors on the second click.

Now it unlocks all the doors on the first click and attempts to do the same again on the second click.

Maybe it's the remote's programming, maybe the car's system...
Anyone had this experience?
Even better, anyone know how to fix this problem?

Thanks, John

I think what you are referring to is One Step Door Unlocking vs. Two Step Door Unlocking:

Here's what the 2008 manual has to say about this configurable feature: (edited with the answer first)

Switching from two step to one step door unlocking
Unlocking can be switched between two step and one step door
unlocking by pressing and holding both the lock and unlock buttons
simultaneously on the remote entry transmitter for approximately 4
seconds. The turn signal will flash twice to indicate that the vehicle has
switched to one step

Definition of the two modes:

Two step door unlocking
1. Press unlock button and release to unlock the driver’s door. Note: The interior
lamps will illuminate if the lamp is in the DOOR position.
2. Press unlock button and release again within three seconds to unlock the
passenger doors, the liftgate and liftgate glass.
The battery saver feature will turn off the interior lamps 10 minutes after
the ignition is turned to the 1 (OFF/LOCK) position.
One step door unlocking
If the one step door unlocking feature is activated, press and release
once to unlock all of the doors, the liftgate and liftgate glass. Note: The
interior lamps will illuminate (refer to Illuminated entry information
later in this section), if the control on the overhead lamp is in the DOOR
position.

One step door unlocking
If the one step door unlocking feature is activated, press and release the unlock button
once to unlock all of the doors, the liftgate and liftgate glass. Note: The
interior lamps will illuminate (refer to Illuminated entry information
later in this section), if the control on the overhead lamp is in the DOOR
position.

Of course, he has a 2007, not a 2008...

Of course he has a 2007. My intent was to set him in the right direction. I didn't want to have to download the 2007 Owners Guide but since that wasn't good enough for you... Does this excerpt from the 2007 manual look familiar?

"Switching from two step to one step door unlocking
Unlocking can be switched between two step and one step door
unlocking by pressing and holding both the lock and unlock buttons
simultaneously on the remote entry transmitter for approximately 4
seconds. The parklamps will flash twice to indicate that the vehicle has
switched to one step unlocking. Repeat the procedure to switch back to
two step unlocking."

Next time I'll just say, RTFM...

In these situations I too generally refer people to the manual...

Hi, Chris
This worked perfectly as described.
You also pointed me in the right direction for future reference -- lots to be found in that owner's manual!
Thanks very much,
John

I tried this from memory over the weekend and couldn't get it to work. I suspect I didn't hold the keys down the full 4 seconds. Guess I'll have to try it again.

It's always nice to have tips like this that a person doesn't find out from the manual without spending hours with it.

Re: FEH -Remote for keyless entry

I was able to switch to the one step locking today, but it took about 5 seconds.
