Full size spare in a 2008 FWD FEH?

Howdy,

I'm planning a trip to Big Bend National Park this Sept. in my 2008 FWD FEH. And I'm hoping to drive to some primitive camp sites on the easier truck trails. Does anyone know if a full size spare will fit in the 2008 FEH? And if so, any recommendations about purchasing a rim and tire?

Thanks a bunch. The previous threads about this topic are from 2005 and 2006.

Check your owner's manual for the tire change procedure. More than likely, it will instruct how to put your flat tire in the rear just like the donut spare. Then you know it's fine!
I would get the cheapest 16" Escape wheel you can find, or you can order the stock 16x7 aluminum wheel for the hybrid if you want the looks to match your other wheels.
You're doing the right thing, driving on the donut is no fun and would be a disaster on dirt.

Re: Full size spare in a 2008 FWD FEH?

I have 2008 FWD FEH. I like to rotate 5 tires and have full size spare. I ordered a like new wheel on internet, bought tire and TPMS from Ford dealer. For about $19 you can buy Ford tpms tool from your Ford dealer to reset your TPMS after you rotate your tires, it only monitors the 4 tires on the FEH. Tool has ford part #8C2T-1A203-AB, and is very easy to use.

If you dont have TPMS set to 4 tires on FEH, after you drive about 20 miles you will get a TPMS failure lite.
