At 6'7" - 240, we had a very short list of small SUV's to work with. We ended up with the Mariner Hybrid as the wife and I both felt the ride and seats were more comfortable than the Escape Hybrid. It also "seemed" a bit quieter but that could have just been in my head.

Your at least the 2nd person to say that, aren't they more money with lower MPG ratings? The master list on here shows 23-33 -- 29.1 avg versus the Escape (lots more of them) 19.9 (one person) 25.8-39.9 -- 31.9 avg.

The MPG ratings are exactly the same between the FEH and the MMH. Just remember that the FEH comes in 2wd and 4wd. The MMH comes only in 4wd (well, until the '08 comes out). So, if you compare MPG posted here, compare 4wd to 4wd.

The prices are nearly identical for similarly equipped vehicles.

Ah did not know the 2wd 4wd part that would explain it. Can't see any reason to buy the 4wd version so I will keep looking at the 2. Think today I will go do a sit in comparison of both.
Thanks

What's up with the tires? Did they dump the LRR "EcoPlus" style for 2008?

Not dump them, not get them. Seems they've been having problems with the supplier to get the LRR's, so it looks like they're going in a different direction, which are less fuel efficient in their testing, but far readily available. Or, so I've heard.
